The Slovenian selection a little more in the colors of the Mavs. According to Marc Stein, Daniel Gafford was in contact with the Slovenian authorities with a view to becoming a naturalized member of the team. These discussions did not come to fruition for this summer.
But this avenue could be explored again in the future. In the meantime, the Federation could turn to someone else to strengthen its squad for this summer. We remind you that Slovenia must go through an Olympic qualifying tournament to hope to go to Paris.
A real Mavericks – Slovenia connection
Which will not be easy at all since its TQO will be played in Athens, where it will notably compete with Croatia and New Zealand in its group. With especially Greece in the other group.
Failing to be able to count on his club pivot, Luka Doncic, who we imagine has suggested some ideas to his Federation since the arrival of Daniel Gafford during the season, will be able to rely on Sean Sweeney. The latter, who is none other than one of Jason Kidd's assistants in Dallas, will join the staff of the Slovenian team.
