D'Angelo Russell makes Lakers history

Capturing a franchise record from the Lakers is not given to everyone, and yet that is what they achieved last night D'Angelo Russell. A great reward, and even a great revenge for him since we must not forget that he was drafted by the Lakers in 2nd position in 2015, before being transferred two years later, then returning last season for win the playoffs, and even land a contract extension.

Last night, against the Sixers, “D-Lo” seized the record for 3-pointers scored in a season, and after equaling Nick Van Exel's record Monday evening against the Hawks, he seized it with four successes against the Sixers this night. Here he is now with 187 3-point baskets for the season, and he erases a record that dates back to… 1995! As there are three weeks left to play, he should take it beyond 200 successes. It is his objective to complicate the task of his successor…

Kobe Bryant's record is untouchable

“As I've always said, it's always nice to see your name in these kinds of things. And this franchise is one of the most prestigious” concedes Russell. “I am beyond grateful, I feel beyond privileged to see my name. If I have the chance, I just want to keep pushing it up to make things really difficult for the next guy. »

Note that Russell had already set the same record at the Nets with 234 successes in 2019. Neither Joe Harris in 2021, nor Patty Mills in 2022 had managed to do better, and Mikal Bridges, with 184 award-winning baskets this season, is too far away to beat him.

By the end of the season, D'Angelo Russell should continue to climb the rankings of the franchise's most prolific shooters. With 498 successes in the Lakers jersey, he is currently 8th in this ranking. In front of him, Kyle Kuzma (510) and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (522). Kobe Bryant's record is unattainable: 1,827 3-point baskets!
