D'Angelo Russell, confidence in his veins

After finishing Game 3 without a single point on his counter, D'Angelo Russell was he going to be demoted to the bench? Darvin Ham had ruled out this possibility. For this possible last match of the Lakers season, the coach insisted with his usual high five.

With a particular desire: to revive his playmaker. “Go wild. Be confident. You've been doing this all your life. Be aggressive”, he replies when asked what he said to his player before this meeting. After this match, Darvin Ham added: “I’m proud of this kid. »

There is something since D'Angelo Russell finished with 21 points at 8/15 shooting. A nice answer then. Who could explain himself by the words of his coach? “I enjoyed it, but I believe in myself, it’s that simple, and more than anyone else. I didn't need it, but I enjoyed it.”, explains the former Brooklynite.

Don't overplay

The playmaker conceded that he took complicated shots in Game 3. This was also the case at the start of the fourth round, but in the second period, he had shots that were a little more open, taking advantage of the spaces offered by LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

“It's not about coming in and trying to dominate when you have LeBron and Davis on the court, next to you. So, for me, after my Game 3 without a point, becoming ultra aggressive and doing lots of things, that's not really me.” he assures. “I know people expect that from me, so maybe it's easier for me to prepare like that, let the game come to me and be aggressive. Everyone was in this match, everyone was in the game. »
