Dan Hurley meets the Lakers

Given LeBron James' enthusiasm last April about his playing philosophy, we don't see what could prevent Dan Hurley to become the next coach of the Lakers. The UConn coach confirmed to his players that he was in contact with Los Angeles management, and he flew to California to meet with vice president Rob Pelinka and owner Jeanie Buss on Friday.

According to ESPN, the two parties have already discussed the duration and amount of the contract, and the Lakers' ambition is undoubtedly to imitate the Celtics with Brad Stevens in 2013. At the time, the latter had left Butler's college to Boston with a six-year contract. Considering the past and the reputation of the Lakers, we can expect a historic contract, in duration and amount. This is the only way to convince Dan Hurley to leave Connecticut, when he can achieve a historic feat there: winning a third NCAA title in a row.

A training and inventive coach

Still according to ESPN, the Hurley track eclipses the others, and in particular the one which led to James Borrego, the only coach to have already met management twice, or JJ Redick. However, they are not buried because Dan Hurley is very attached to UConn and his work as a trainer.

Precisely, the management of the Lakers would have particularly insisted on the idea of developing young talents in the long term, starting with Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura in the current squad, and of course possibly Bronny James, who could benefit enormously from the arrival of the best university coach.
