How were the Heat going to resist the Bucks without Jimmy Butler? The question arose since the Florida star is not in uniform for this Eastern Conference shock, injured in an ankle. The answer was clear at the start of the meeting: Miami sank, losing 15-2 to start.
After a few minutes, Erik Spoelstra’s troops emerged from the water (22-31). After a good passage from Jaime Jaquez Jr. and with open 3-point shots, the Heat even went ahead for the first of the meeting before the break (62-59) against a Milwaukee team which relied on Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard.
When they return from the locker room, the shooters are in better shape. The shots fall in and the match gets carried away. Miami maintains control (97-93). We are then slowly arriving at “money time”.
The moment for Damian Lillard to show up (like against Portland) and hit twice at 3-points. Khris Middleton seconds him perfectly with two mid-range shots and the Bucks win 124-131. Next for them is a quarter-final of the tournament against New York next week.
WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER
– Two halves, two atmospheres. The first period was choppy, with a lot of missed shots and whistles, thus ruining the show. After the break, however, the two teams showed a more attractive, more pleasant and more offensive face. Except that in this little game, the Bucks have more weapons with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard and Khris Middleton, than the Heat deprived of Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro.
– The Bucks are taking the right turn. Excellent at the start of the match, Adrian Griffin’s players were then pushed around, without ever being dropped. In the final moments, they took the important shots and made sure they took free throws. Thus, they finished the game with a fatal 16-6 in Miami.
– Milwaukee takes the quarter. With this success, the Bucks finished the first phase of the NBA tournament undefeated, with 4 victories. They will therefore host the Knicks in the quarter-finals. For their part, the Miami players were eliminated from the competition.
