While the series could end this evening, the NBA is pleased with the audience for Game 3 of the Finals compared to last season's figures. Wednesday night, the Celtics' victory in Dallas combined 11.43 million viewers on ABC and ESPN for a market share of 6%. This is a little better than Game 3 between the Nuggets and the Heat in 2023, watched by 11.24 million Americans, for an equivalent market share.
This is still down compared to the figures for Game 2 with a drop of 2% in market share, and 7% in volume, but also compared to Game 3 of the 2022 Finals between the Celtics and the Warriors. At the time, the 3rd round had posted an average of 11.5 million viewers for 6.2% market share.
After three matches, the 2024 Finals have averaged 11.57 million viewers for 6% market share. This is almost equivalent to 2023 for around 10,000 viewers, and it is less than in 2022 for 210,000 viewers.
