Confirmed absence of Kristaps Porzingis “for several matches”

This was the only fear the Celtics could have had while recruiting Kristaps Porzingis last summer, and this is unfortunately the scenario that is happening before our eyes.

At the end of a successful season, despite already several physical alerts, the Latvian interior already finds himself in the infirmary after four playoff matches, injured in a right calf which is definitely causing him a lot of problems.

Not in his best form since the start of the series against the Heat, he finally left his teammates prematurely at the end of the second quarter, in Game 4 won by Boston, going directly to the locker room. Adrian Wojnarowski confirmed that KP would be absent “for several matches”, which does not really give us any insight into the concrete duration of his unavailability.

However, we know that he suffers from the same injury that currently deprives Giannis Antetokounmpo of the first round, namely a contracture of the soleus muscle, this muscle located above the Achilles tendon, between the twins. For this type of injury, we generally mention an absence of two to three weeks, depending on the severity.

If we can already rule out his participation following the series against Miami, we will undoubtedly then have to look day by day for the conference semi-final. It will be either against the Cavaliers or against the Magic, two teams against which the size of Kristaps Porzingis would necessarily be useful.
