Atlanta has officially acted Dejounte Murray trade at the Pelicans. In return, the Georgia franchise has therefore recovered two future first round Draft picks, as well as Dyson Daniels, EJ Liddell but also Larry Nance Jr. While his name had not yet been mentioned, a surprise guest was finally included in the deal via a sign-and-trade. This is the veteran position 5 Cody Zeller.
A favorite of the Charlotte crowd, where he played from 2013 to 2021, Cody Zeller made his career with the profile of an “old-school” pivot: a physical, hard-working player and big defender.
Luke and Tyler Zeller's brother then got lost in Portland before going through a desert crossing until finding a franchise in his image by signing for the Heat in February 2023, accompanying the Florida team to the NBA finals. Last season, he was a player on the end of Willie Green's bench (averaging just over 7 minutes per game, his worst playing time in his career) and will therefore try to relaunch himself in Atlanta.
The situation won't be much better for him in Atlanta since Clint Capela and Onyeka Okongwu are already in place in Quin Snyder's rotation and Larry Nance Jr. could also take minutes at the 5.
