As usual, the NBA ends its salvo of trophies, started by the rookies and the players, with the coaches.
In the West, it is Tyron Lue which is still chosen. Again because the Clippers technician had already been appointed in December. This is because Los Angeles won 12 games out of 15 in January to return to the Top 3 in the West!
This is the third time in his career that the former Cavaliers coach has been chosen as “Coach of the Month”.
In the East, and without much surprise, it is Tom Thibodeau who is designated. The coach led the Knicks to 14 victories in 16 games in January, the best calendar month for the New York franchise since 1994. At the time, it was Pat Riley who was in charge in the “Big Apple”…
For “Thibs”, it is the seventh time in his career that he has been elected “Coach of the Month” by the NBA.
