The Clippers have regularly passed through Hawaii since it is already the fourth time, since 2017, that players from the Californian franchise have gone there. This new stage scheduled for the 2023 pre-season will have a special flavor since particularly deadly fires have ravaged the forests and homes of Lahaina.
The Clippers have therefore modified their trip a little, which will begin with the organization of a training camp from Oct. 3 through Oct. 9. The Clippers Foundation and the Hawaii Tourism Authority will then team up to assist in efforts to rehabilitate burned areas and renovate a local school.
Their stay will end with their first pre-season meeting which will take place on October 8 against the Utah Jazz. The game will be held at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and all proceeds will be donated to the Maui Strong Fund, a foundation that will in turn help families of victims of the Lahaina fires.
The Clippers were already among the professional sports entities in the city of Los Angeles to have mobilized to unite $450,000 in donations.
For their part, the Jazz displayed their ” pride “ to participate in this momentum of solidarity alongside the Clippers.
