CJ McCollum and the Pelicans stifle the Heat

Everything was off to a good start for the Heat, however, since Erik Spoelstra's players started the match with a 14-2 lead! The Pelicans also respond with a 14-2, with a skillful Trey Murphy III from afar. Which is not the case for Miami, which insists on 3-pts without success. New Orleans is thus in front after twelve minutes (20-21).

The Pelicans' zone defense terribly hampers a Miami team that is suffering offensively. CJ McCollum, silent in the first quarter, made a series of baskets in the second quarter and the gap increased to ten points. When entering the locker room, the Heat can be happy to be only four points behind (42-46).

Things were balanced in the third quarter (66-76) before a boost at the start of the fourth, with an 8-0 for the Pelicans. CJ McCollum is still in action and the match is over.

The last minutes having no interest, except to open the benches (88-111). The day after a defeat in Orlando and the bad news concerning Brandon Ingram, injured and absent for two weeks, the Pelicans showed that they were very solid.

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

– CJ McCollum shines, Zion Williamson discreet. The guard took a quarter to warm up but then, with 20 points in the second and third quarters, he was sharp and skillful. Sometimes greedy too, without it harming the performance, finished with 30 points at 6/12 at 3-pts. Perfect for forgetting a Zion Williamson not in his sneakers. Not aggressive and not very economical (five lost balls), the interior of the Pelicans was not in his game, even unrecognizable.

– The Heat suffering in attack. If New Orleans played a very serious match and dominated the debates, it is also because the Heat did not succeed in theirs. Of course, this is partly explained by the very good defense of the Pelicans, but Jimmy Butler and his gang have (once again) shown signs of weakness in attack. They posted a terrible 5/26 at 3-pts at the break and finished with 27% success behind the arc. Jimmy Butler also lacked sharpness, being away from the game too often. And with 88 small points, the Floridians produced one of the worst performances of their season.
