Chris Paul left to stay at the Suns?

While the trend was more towards a departure, or even a transfer, it would seem that Chris Paul still wears the colors of the Suns next season. The Bleacher Report reports as well as the franchise will probably keep the veteran point guard by activating his 3rd year of contract, and tl should even keep his starting place in the starting lineup.

It’s a half surprise because Chris Paul is on a slippery slope. This season, CP3 has played only 59 regular season games for averages of 13.9 points and 8.9 assists. In the playoffs, his performance dropped with 12.4 points and 7.4 assists per game. and at 38, his frailty is increasingly problematic. In the playoffs, it was his left adductor who dropped, ruling him out for the rest of the series. Result, the Suns were eliminated in six games by the Nuggets.

Another major problem is the salary. After reaching the NBA Finals in 2021, the Suns had extended CP3 to the tune of $120 million over 4 years. To date, he has two years left on his unsecured contract, and if it is extended, the franchise will have almost no room for maneuver to strengthen. Unless Deandre Ayton is transferred to recover two or three good players.

Continuity on the bench?

With only 6 players under contract next season, the puzzle is already beginning for the Arizona franchise, which will no doubt have to tinker again to complete the workforce.

But above all, the number 1 objective is to find a trainer. As a reminder, Monty Williams was dismissed after the elimination against Denver, and his assistant Kevin Young could take over. Also according to the Bleacher Report, many players on the team are pushing for his appointment, and he will be interviewing for the job next week.
