Chris Paul isn’t worried about his role with the Warriors

Will he start, in a very small five major with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green? Or rather sixth man? In his introductory press conference As a new member of the Warriors, Chris Paul could not answer these questions because the 38-year-old point guard explains that he has not yet spoken with Steve Kerr about his role in the Golden State system.

“In the end, it’s still basketball” he relativizes. “I come into a situation where guys have been playing together for a long time. I’m not as worried as the others about it. We’ll find the answers in boot camp. We don’t have the answers right now. We will train and I am sure that I will learn certain things from them, and they will learn certain things from me. But it’s like that in every team. »

Chris Paul sees above all the opportunities, noting that he has never played with a player like Stephen Curry, who attracts so much attention with his shot, nor with a player like Klay Thompson, capable of making cards without needing ball in hand. Even if he intends to rely on his experience with Devin Booker or JJ Redick.

Despite everything, the veteran recognizes that he, like his family, had a hard time believing his arrival at the Warriors, as the leader fought, with the Clippers then the Rockets, against Stephen Curry’s band…

Not a jubilee in Golden State

In Las Vegas, Chris Paul trained with the Golden State point guard for the first time since 2009.

“There are times when we have the opportunity to take stock. Even training today, we laughed… It’s a great chance and a blessing to do this at our age, because he’s not young either”.

With the transfers of James Wiseman and Jordan Poole, as well as the arrival of Chris Paul, the Warriors have thus put an end to their “double timeline”, relying on experience to keep their shooting window open and set out to conquer a new title around Stephen Curry (35 years old), Klay Thompson (33 years old) and Draymond Green (33 years old).

As for Chris Paul, despite his 38 years, he does not consider this season at Golden State as his jubilee.

” It is a sport. It is fun. It’s a job, but I can play basketball every day and say it’s my way of life… I wouldn’t spend all this time training and playing, being away from my family if I didn’t. did not like this sport as I like it. That won’t change” he concludes thus.
