Chris Finch wants to better organize the space around Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns

The association between Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert is a major subject in Minnesota, one of the main issues of the next season. The two interiors will have to manage to coexist to be effective and take the team to the top.

Chris Finch, who has already announced that he wants to reorganize his attack, returned to the things to do to find the right balance with two players of this level in the racket.

“I think we have to be more precise with our spacing around Gobert on the pick-and-roll and Towns in the post,” analyzes Wolves coach for the Star Tribune. “We thus have two anchor points. We need to have a more structured spacing. Both players have a role to play at the same time. I also think that we forgot to put Towns where he is strong, that is to say outside at the start of possession. »

For this, two players will have a central role: Anthony Edwards and Mike Conley. The first had to learn to play with Rudy Gobert, and with the long absence of “KAT” he could not rely on his relationship with him.

“He was decisive with Gobert, having learned to tame him, but he must find his game with Towns”, thus explains Chris Finch. “They had great chemistry, but we never got it back when KAT came back from injury. »

When the second, he has a long experience with the Frenchman, who dates from Utah, but his contribution in attack was not as important as the coach would have hoped.

“He changed things by raising Rudy’s level of play, especially on pick-and-roll. But we never managed to use that to the fullest. Opponents didn’t respect Conley as a scorer like they did with D’Angelo Russell. We needed him to be more aggressive and he did. The most important thing is that he is this link between Gobert, Towns and Edwards, and we have not completely succeeded in doing so. »
