Just one day after his operation following a rupture of a patellar tendon in his right knee, Chris Finch was present at the Wolves' training, to prepare for the conference semi-final against the Nuggets.
With crutches and a cast, the coach led the work sessions, on the floor and on video.
“Finch is obviously a leader and a very tough guy” explains Tim Connellythe president of basketball operations. “I have a lot of respect for him for bouncing back so quickly. He can't wait to get back on the field. He's very excited about this series and it's great that he's back.”
Maintain routines
For the Wolves, the presence of the coach is important.
“Obviously, any time you have your leader in the building, who is able to lead the practices, the video sessions and the meetings, that’s important”assures Micah Nori. “So the closer we stay to the norm and the closer we get to the pace we've had all year, the better. »
It remains to be seen whether Chris Finch could lead his team during matches, while there may be a space problem. But for Tim Connelly, the team is in good hands, no matter where the manager is.
“Micah (Nori, the first assistant) will make an excellent head coach when a smart team hires him”concludes the leader. “All the staff are very united. Finch trusts them. It's a collective, it's not just one person. We trust the next guy, and that goes for players and coaches alike. »
