Celtics stars make short work of Hornets

Who will be the Celtics starting five this season? Joe Mazzulla provided an element of response for the last preseason match against the Hornets since he once again lined up Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Kristaps Porzingis. A five that flew through the first quarter with Jaylen Brown already in great shape. After 12 minutes, the All-Star guard is already at 13 points on 5 of 7 shots, and the Celtics lead 34-19!

And since it’s a dress rehearsal, Joe Mazzulla will leave his stars on the field in the second quarter. The opportunity for Jaylen Brown, again, to score a 20-meter field goal, but ultimately refused because it was taken just after the halftime buzzer…

The Hornets failed to see the light of day, and they were suffocated by the Celtics’ super defense. The rotations are fast and the hands active. Result: 22 interceptions for the Celtics, and it is a franchise record.

Frank Ntilikina is out with injury

Under the circle, Kristaps Porzingis is everywhere, and beyond his double-double, he considerably hinders shots. A real headache for the Hornets, limited to 99 points, and who lost Frank Ntilikina to injury!

With Al Horford absent, Joe Mazzulla opted for Neemias Queta as the first interior rotation. The Portuguese, signed on a “two-way contract”, confirmed that he had the profile of an “energizer” for the coming season with 12 points, 7 rebounds, including 5 offensive.

At the finish, Boston won 127-99 with seven players at 11 points or more.
