Like last week in Toronto, the Bulls played last night at Boston an “In-Season Tournament” match devoid of any sporting interest for them since they were already eliminated from the tournament. And like against the Raptors on Friday, Chicago took a big slap in the face of Celtics (124-97).
Relegated to -11 at the end of the first quarter, to -19 at half-time then even to -35 (!) in the third quarter, the Bulls did not exist against a relentless Celtic collective ( 52% on shots with 21 winning shots scored and 7 players with more than 11 points), carried in particular by a great Jaylen Brown (30 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists).
To make matters worse for these depressed and distressed Bulls, Zach LaVine, not in a great evening (2 points to 1/9 on shots), did not finish the match because of a foot injury. In this context, DeMar DeRozan And Coby White (19 points each) did what they could in this collective slump…
To remember
– When will the Bulls implode? At this point, the question is not if the Bulls will implode, but when… With 14 defeats in 19 games, Chicago belongs more than ever to the circle of dunces in the Eastern Conference, with the weak Pistons and Wizards. For the good of this franchise and its future, it now seems essential to change direction. It remains to be seen in what proportion(s): by simply changing coaches initially, hoping that better days will come? By transferring a Zach LaVine in the transfer rumors to aim for the same goal? Or by already carrying out a major clean-up, by separating from the back, but also from DeMar DeRozan and/or Nikola Vucevic? To be continued…
– The Celtics qualified. Masters of their destiny, Jayson Tatum’s teammates ensured their qualification with a victory of more than 22 points. In the quarterfinals, they will travel to Indianapolis.
