Cedi Osman heads to Panathinaikos

It won't be Real Madrid, but a Euroleague team nonetheless. As reported by EurohoopsPanathinaikos owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos announced on social media that he had reached an agreement with Cedi Osman.

With this addition, Panathinaikos, who already attracted Omer Yurtseven this summer, further strengthens its squad with the acquisition of the Turkish international. He returns to Europe for the first time since 2017, when he decided to leave for the United States to play in the NBA, where he played until last season.

Cedi Osman began his career with Anadolu Efes before attracting the attention of NBA franchises. The 31st pick (of the Wolves) in the 2015 Draft joined the Major League with the Cavs, for six seasons played there. Last season, he wore the Spurs jersey, playing alongside Victor Wembanyama.

During his seven seasons in the NBA, he played 476 regular season games, averaging 9.3 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. He increased his average to 13 units in 2019. Although he would have liked to stay in San Antonio, he was not in the plans of Gregg Popovich, whose “roster” is currently full.

Like Evan Fournier, Cedi Osman joins the contingent of “NBAers” who left the Major League to join the ranks of a Euroleague team this summer.
