Cavaliers finally give Luke Travers a chance

It took three seasons and the opening of an additional place for the two-way contract so that Luke Travers finally signs with the Cavaliers. Chosen in 56th position in the 2022 Draft, he had not joined the squad, without however being forgotten by the franchise since he had participated in the last three Summer Leagues with the franchise.

The wait was still long for Travers who had made a good showing during his first Summer League, in 2022. He even had time to change clubs in the NBL, going from the Perth Wildcats with whom he was champion in 2020 to Melbourne United.

With Melbourne, Luke Travers averaged 12 points on 51.6% shooting and 32.7% from deep, 7.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 25 games played last season. Earlier this month, ESPN reported that the Melbourne United had released the winger so he can try his luck in the NBA.

The Cavaliers now have their three two-way contracts signed. Before Luke Travers, they had renewed their confidence in Emoni Bates and signed JT Thor, author of a good Olympic Games with South Sudan.

Two-way contract : Designed to create a new bridge between the NBA and the G-League, this type of contract allows each team to secure the services of two or three additional players, to have them play mainly in their affiliated development league franchise but also up to 50 matches in the NBA.
