Carmelo Anthony to enter New York Hall of Fame

Carmelo Anthony soon to be a member of the Hall of Fame… in New York. The former Knicks will be, according to the New York Postthe main headliner of the 2024 class. Enough to reward the Brooklyn native’s seven seasons in New York, with as many All-Star selections, during which he averaged nearly 25 points.

A New York mandate marked by three qualifications in the playoffs, but only one conference semi-final, in 2013. Aged 39, the 9th best scorer in the league announced his retirement last May, after having navigated a lot following his departure from the Knicks (Thunder, Rockets, Blazers and Lakers).

A member of the list of the 75 best players in history, he has 10 All-Star selections in total, 6 All-NBA selections and a title of best scorer in the league (2013). Enough to allow him to soon join the “real” Hall of Fame. According to the Basketball Reference websitehe has a 98.4% chance of being inducted.

In the meantime, he will integrate the local institution which was relaunched after several years of inactivity due to the death of its founders. The New York Hall of Fame is now chaired by Nate “Tiny” Archibald.

Carmelo Anthony will notably be accompanied by streetball legend Joe Hammond and former WNBA player Tina Charles who shone with the New York Liberty. Nuggets coach Mike Malone, a Queens native, will also be recognized with a special award.

The ceremony is expected to take place next summer at the New York Athletic Club in Manhattan. The first promotion of the New York pantheon, in 1990, had some very good people with Red Auerbach, Bob Cousy and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The last class of its kind, that of 2017, notably allowed Lamar Odom to be inducted.
