Considered the best high school student of his generation, Cameron Boozer won his first international individual award since the son of Carlos Boozer was elected MVP of the U16 Americas Championship. Aged 15, the winger scored 24 points in the final in the very, very, very large victory for the United States against Canada (118-36).
Over the entire tournament, Cameron Boozer averaged 16.8 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.5 steals in a Team USA that largely flew over the competition. In the final, the Americans therefore won by 82 points (a record in a final), doing better than in the quarter-finals when they won by 75 points against Uruguay.
Only two Americans in the tournament five…
Despite this broad dominance, FIBA did not designate an all-American five as there is only one Boozer teammate in the tournament’s best five. It’s fullback Darryn Peterson, who averaged 16.8 points and 3.3 steals. At their side, we find Felipe Quinones, the Puerto Rico shooter, top scorer in the competition with 18.1 points on average.
Canadian interior Paul Osaruyi (14.8 points, 8/3 rebounds/m) and Argentinian pivot Ivan Pratto (13.2 pts, 10.3rbds/m) complete this All-Tournament team.
