Cam Reddish, LeBron James' protégé

Former high school phenomenon, before teaming up with Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett and Duke then being selected in 10th position in the 2019 Draft, Cam Reddish nevertheless had difficulty finding his place in the NBA.

Moved between the Hawks, the Knicks then the Blazers, he joined the Lakers last summer, via a minimum contract.

The confidence of the “King”

We then wondered if the guard/winger would really be able to (re)launch his career within the loaded rotation of the “Purple & Gold”, but he can count on LeBron James to help him in this task.

We remember that at the start of the season, the “King” had offered him the winning shot in Miami. Missed. However, it was not a hot potato but rather a sign of confidence, which gives wings to Cam Reddish.

“People thought he was finished” assures LeBron James after the Lakers' victory during the NBA Tournament. “I'm so happy he was able to have this experience and be productive. I believe in him. »

LeBron James never misses an opportunity to sing the praises of the former Hawk, now well established in the starting five. Like again last night, after the victory against the Pacers.

A valuable defensive impact

“Finding Cam again (injured in a few matches at the end of November) helped us enormously” explained the four-time MVP. “Not a lot of people talk about it, but he probably made one of the biggest shots of the game tonight when Indiana went on a run to get within three points. He made this huge 3-pointer, in front of our bench, to push the gap back to six points. We never looked back after that. Cam has just been huge for us and I'm really happy to see him shine in his role with us, because he deserves it, for sure. »

With 9 points on 4/7 shooting, 3 rebounds and 3 blocks, Cam Reddish's stats line against Indiana is not crazy, but for example it says nothing about his defensive impact, particularly on Tyrese Haliburton.
