By extending for a year at the Suns, Josh Okogie aims for the title… and his next contract

Extended for a contract of only one year, Josh Okogie could probably have done a little better in a new team this summer. But the Suns wing defender preferred to stay in Arizona, where the goal is more than ever to win the title with their trident of superstars, Kevin Durant – Devin Booker – Bradley Beal.

“When I took stock of the teams [sur le marché]I made the decision to stay in Phoenix, but more with a long-term view than a short-term one”explains Josh Okogie for the Arizona Republic. “The Suns like me as much as I like them. I know what my role is in the team, I already have a house here, and above all, I will have the chance to play for the title! You don’t get all that in a lot of franchises. »

Just like Drew Eubanks and Yuta Watanabe who arrive, or Damion Lee who extends, Josh Okogie will be part of the army of second knives who must come out of the bench to support the new local “Big Three”.

“I see my contract as a long-term investment”

“I really like our group. We are talented in so many different ways. I like what we are able to do defensively. That’s my main goal, what I focus on first. I always want to be a Swiss army knife for the team. No matter where there will be needs, I will be there to fill them. »

Signed for just over $2 million a season, the veteran minimum, Josh Okogie is finally betting on a Bruce Brown. That of increasing its value after a season concluded with a ring!

“I see my contract as a long-term investment”concludes Josh Okogie. “I want to build on the past year, but also for my career. I had a lot of success here, I revived my career a bit there. They gave me a chance to continue here and I in turn decided to take this opportunity. »
