Bucks start talks to replace Mike Budenholzer

Almost a week after firing Mike Budenholzer, ESPN teaches us that bucks will start talks to find him a successor.

Thus, three first names are mentioned to recover the position of “head coach” of Milwaukee : that of Kenny Atkinsonthat of Charles Lee And the one of James Borrego.

Currently assistant to the Warriors and therefore still in the playoffs (but for how long?), Kenny Atkinson has been authorized by his leaders to speak with the Wisconsin franchise. Before joining Steve Kerr on the Golden State bench, he led the Nets for four years (a qualification in the playoffs, for an overall record of 118 wins and 190 losses).

A page turns at the Bucks

Charles Lee knows the Bucks house well, since he was Mike Budenholzer’s assistant since 2018, after having already been for four years with the Hawks. Everything suggests that he will soon fly on his own, because several teams have been interested in his profile in recent months (including the Pistons, at this very moment…).

As for James Borrego, Magic coach for a while (2014/15) but above all Hornets coach between 2018 and 2022 (no playoff qualification, for an overall record of 148 wins and 183 losses), he seems to keep a good rating of popularity in the NBA, despite mixed results as a “head coach”.

There is no doubt that the opinion of Giannis Antetokounmpothe Bucks “franchise player” should also weigh in on the decision of the Milwaukee “board”, while ESPN specifies that other candidates should be interviewed by the 2021 champions.
