The Bucks lived a funny evening, and it ended very well. Landed only three hours before their meeting against the Heat after being nailed to the ground in New Orleans by the snowstorm which paralyzes Louisiana, they did not suffer too much from the adventure to stir Miami.
The time of delay on the schedule initially planned for the start has still had a slight effect on the players of Doc Rivers. Nothing is coming back at the start of the match for Milwaukee (1/12 to start), when Kel'el Ware takes the bottom of his tenure alongside Bam Adebayo. The rookie scored seven consecutive points in two minutes and the Heat leads 18-3 after six minutes of play! This delay in understandable ignition fortunately does not last for the public of the FISERV Forum. Despite two fast mistakes, Giannis Antetokounmpo remains at stake and launches his match. Well helped by the good entry of Bobby Portis, the Greek brings the Bucks possession by possession and reduces the three-point gap at the end of the first quarter (27-30).
Lillard, six points in a second!
The change in dynamics is soon confirmed. Gary Trent JR is hot at 3-point and sends four long-distance missiles in just five minutes. The Heat is resisting thanks to the Ware – Tyler Herro tandem. But Damian Lillard's entry into scene changes everything. Very clumsy to start the meeting, the Milwaukee leader was a hood after 18 minutes of play … and returns to the locker room with 14 points! From touch and outdoor shoot, everything now succeeds in the old Blazer. The locals end in a rush with a 12-2 including six for Lillard while only 1 ″ 1 second left at the time thanks to three free throws and a shoot from afar following the missed backing of Miami, Groggy at 16 lengths at rest (71-55).
The offensive hot stroke ends up falling back into the third quarter, where the two teams chain the awkwardness. Herro CONSTROIDI, ADEBAYO EMARS and JIMMY Butler again suspended, Miami is struggling to find a regular scorer, despite WARE's efforts. Lillard and Antetokounmpo ensure the essentials, and the gap increases up to 25 units thanks to a new distant shot from Trent JR (92-67, 34 ′). Heat is no longer really there, especially since Milwaukee's defense maintains its seriousness. Lillard ends the job in a last act quickly without suspense, which has at least the merit of resting antetokounmpo or Adebayo. Bucks replacements take the opportunity to inflate the gap a little more beyond the 30 points, before finishing at +29.
What to remember
– “Lady Time” comes before the time. Accustomed to catching fire at the end of the match, Damian Lillard did not have so much patience this time. The Bucks leader knocked out Miami by his end of the second quarter of which the Floridians never completely recovered. He finished at 29 points, 11 assists and 9 rebounds, the only frustration of his evening when he thought he had the triple-double in his pocket, before one of his rebounds was finally removed after his release.
– Heat in need of leader. For the first of the two new suspension matches of Jimmy Butler, Miami lacked what his star brought before this season: character and a contribution which even sometimes irregular brought a form of security to the group of Erik Spoelstra. A margin that he no longer has, and which does not allow you to get out of it in an evening with an Adebayo bam at only 11 points, and despite the new very beautiful outing of Kel'el Ware (22 points at 9/15, 10 rebounds, 2 against).
