In the NBA, the “training camp” is often the bearer of indications about the coming season, and on the side of Houston, Bruno Fernando obviously scored points.
ESPN is indeed reporting that the Angolan pivot has signed up for four seasons and just under $11 million with the Rockets. A fine mark of confidence on the part of the franchise, even though the workforce does not lack pivots (Boban Marjanovic, European champion Usman Garuba and Derrick Favors, recently arrived from the Thunder) likely to be Alperen Sengun’s understudy at the season opener.
After two seasons in Atlanta to start his career (2019-2021), Bruno Fernando was sent to Boston last summer, before joining the Rockets a few months later, in February, as part of the transfer of Dennis Schroder. This summer, he first signed a “two-way contract”, before obtaining this “real” contract for the next four seasons. Even if this lease is probably not completely guaranteed.
In detail, Bruno Fernando will make $2.4 million this season, then $2.6 million in 2023/24, $2.8 million in 2024/25 and finally $3.0 million in 2025/26.
