Back in great shape after having to deal with an ankle injury at the end of last season, Julius Randle was able to take part in the start of the Knicks’ training camp. With his morale pumped up, and the desire to look forward rather than backward, like his lackluster playoffs from which he believes he came out of it grown, “in understanding the game” notably.
The New York interior also made a comeback with a new tattoo: a portrait of Bruce Lee to illustrate his budding passion for the actor, a martial arts specialist. Above all, Julius Randle found numerous mantras to apply, to better control his mood swings, or manage the media pressure, which is increased tenfold in New York and which requires having a mind of steel.
“You’re bastards, that’s why!” “, he also quipped in front of the press when asked why he fell in love with Bruce Lee. “It’s dealing with you regularly.”
“Be like water”
Suffice to say that there are still efforts to be made, but Julius Randle intends to show that he can channel himself by following the precepts from the martial arts, on self-control, but also the faculty of adaptation, of learning, which Bruce Lee also embodied.
“I think throughout my career I have been able to adapt. With my versatility, I was able to adapt to certain situations, I went with the flow. That’s what it’s about. Not reacting to certain things. Yes, Bruce Lee has a lot of hidden treasures. He was ahead of his time.”he added.
There is no doubt that his self-control will be put to the test again this season, but the inside is hopeful that his recent experiences will make him a better player, fluid like the water dear to his new mentor.
“I think my efficiency will be much better this year. I understand the game better, so I think that will allow me to be a more effective player, for sure.”
