Brent Barry, new assistant at the Suns

THE Suns continue to operate the “Spurs Connection” because ESPN indicates that Brent Barry becomes Mike Budenholzer's new assistant in Arizona.

The two men have known each other since they met in Texas, from 2004 to 2008, when Rick Barry's son played there and Mike Budenholzer assisted Gregg Popovich.

A two-time NBA champion with San Antonio in 2005 and 2007, Brent Barry returned in 2018 to serve as the franchise's vice president of basketball operations for six years. He is now leaving his position in the Texan front office to take on a new challenge.

Among Mike Budenholzer's right-hand men, along with David Fizdale, Chad Forcier (former Spurs player), Mike Hopkins and Vince Legarza, Brent Barry will have his first experience as an assistant in the NBA, at 52 years old.
