Brandon Roy will try to bring the Blazers luck in the “lottery”

The Blazers announced on Tuesday that Brandon Roy, a former member of the house, will represent them in the Draft lottery this year. This event, which will determine the order of the first 14 picks in the 2023 Draft, will take place on May 16.

Brandon Roy once represented Portland in the lottery. It was 16 years ago, in 2007. That year, the Blazers had obtained the first choice, which allowed them to select Greg Oden in front of… Kevin Durant.

Aged 38, Brandon Roy was drafted in 6th position by the Blazers in the 2006 Draft, before being voted Rookie of the Year in 2007. He had to retire prematurely in 2013 due to problems of knee. He still has three All-Star Game selections and two All-NBA selections to his credit. Today, he coaches a high school team in Seattle (Garfield High School).

By appealing to Brandon RoyDamian Lillard’s franchise is no doubt hoping to repeat the coup of 2007.

As a reminder, the Blazers have a 10.5% chance of recovering the first choicewith only Detroit (14%), Houston (14%), San Antonio (14%) and Charlotte (12.5%) having more chances of getting their hands on the “first pick” of the vintage.
