Brandin Podziemski, a nice surprise for Stephen Curry

10 points, 10 assists, 6 rebounds and the best +/- of the match (+16) in 26 minutes. Even if he didn’t really find the target from afar (1/5), Brandin Podziemski compensated perfectly in the other sectors against the Lakers.

His two-player game with Dario Saric was very interesting, as was his ability to find his partners by making the right shifts, at the right time and at the right tempo.

“BP has really shown how much he understands the game of basketball, even though he is very young (20 years), and how much confidence he has in his game. It shows as soon as he steps on the pitch”, explained Stephen Curryimpressed by the rookie’s attitude during training camp and preseason matches. “It’s a nice surprise.”

Because as the double MVP explains, you never really know what to expect from beginners.

“We’re waiting for Klay to do his thing, same for (Kevon Looney). We’re waiting for (Andrew Wiggins) to come back and dominate. All these guys, you can expect them to do what they’ve always done. Me too. »

What place in a very dense rotation?

For the rookies, it’s necessarily different, especially when they are immersed in such an experienced squad. But if Brandin Podziemski is capable of flashes, his game remains controlled. Which would please Steve Kerr.

“Brandin understands the game really well. He was the team leader in pass deflections since the start of training camp. He’s always one step ahead of the systems, on both ends of the field. He makes the right defensive rotations, he makes the right transmissions and he surprises defenses with his reversals of play. He really feels the game superbly” repeats the technician.

Enough to offer him real minutes in Steve Kerr’s rotation, in a playmaker position which risks being blocked this season with Stephen Curry, Chris Paul but also Cory Joseph?
