Bones Hyland pushed out of Clippers rotation

For the first time this season, Bones Hyland did not step on the floor during the Clippers’ defeat against the Grizzlies. After a good start to the campaign, the former Nuggets is paying for the arrival of James Harden.

Against Memphis, we saw Tyronn Lue trying to set up two pairs, almost superimposing the minutes of James Harden with those of Kawhi Leonard, and those of Paul George with those of Russell Westbrook. A strategy that he intends to develop, and which therefore pushes him to dismiss the 23-year-old “combo guard”.

“We discussed it” he explains. “Yes, I want to see this rotation for a while. Norm (Powell) brought offensively and I want to play ten guys to see how it fits, and who plays well together. I think Bones played very well and it’s not nice for a coach, when a guy is playing well, to leave him out because of the rotations. We talked about it and he understands. He will remain professional and he will work, because his time will come. »

Especially within a team in search of new benchmarks, both offensive and defensive, Bones Hyland’s limitations on this side of the field do not fit well with current priorities.

“But now, I have to move away from this small lineup and unfortunately, it falls on Bones, even though he was playing well” concludes Tyronn Lue, face closed, forced to grope and adapt on the fly.
