The manager ended up deciding, ending his adventure in Golden State, but not to join another franchise. How could it have been otherwise after everything he has experienced since 2011? Bob Myers therefore joined ESPN where he now works as a consultant.
Before the start of the season, the 1995 NCAA champion with UCLA spoke during a (very) long interview to explain in particular his expectations and questions as he begins this new stage of his professional career. Asked about the possibility of finding a “front office” in the NBA in the short or medium term, he remains very evasive.
“I think my answer to that question would be: not at the moment.”did he declare. “I don’t know, and the only belief I have is that I’m done with what this job required. And what that will mean in two years, three years, I really don’t know. I guess I have to be content with not knowing. I don’t really need to know that right now. It may be more difficult for me to make these decisions as things are presented to me. I was presented with certain things and I easily said, ‘No, thank you. I’m flattered, but no thanks’.
After 12 years in a demanding and day-to-day job, Bob Myers has chosen to move on, and for now, he is happy to take a break.
“The Warriors, and I used this example before, was like trying to hold on to a dragon’s tail. It was a lot of fun, but it was a ton of work, and I admire any leader who can stick it out for twenty years. I did twelve and I felt like I had to stop,” he continued. “I don’t have a good answer to whether it’s forever or not, but I know it’s not right now. That’s a bit what I think.”
