The Blazers had the choice whether or not to protect two players in their squad: Matisse Thybulle and Cam Reddish. The Portland franchise cut the pear in half, keeping hold of the first, but not the second.
Blazers leaders therefore offered a “qualifying offer” to the former Philadelphia player. Portland will thus be able to align itself with any external offer concerning it. On the other hand, Cam Reddish did not have this possibility, slip HoopsHype. The former Knicks winger is therefore totally free this summer.
The franchise has above all made a financial choice since with the big salaries of Damian Lillard, Anfernee Simmons and Jusuf Nurkic ($ 86 million next year between them), plus the extension of Jerami Grant to negotiate, the finances of the Blazers will quickly fall into the red.
Arrived in February in Oregon, Matisse Thybulle averaged 7.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.7 steals in 27 minutes with the Blazers. Either the best stats of his career. Cam Reddish, too, made it through, given his disappointing start to his career, with 11 points per game. But not enough to convince GM Joe Cronin.
