Blazers fend off teams interested in Damian Lillard | NBA

Within days, the Blazers roster exploded with the departures of Norman Powell and Robert Covington at first, then CJ McCollum, Larry Nance Jr. and Tony Snell. Not to mention Cody Zeller, who was cut.

The franchise has decided to rebuild everything around the currently injured Damian Lillard. But inevitably, with a GM doing a lot of cleaning, the other franchises had an eye on the playmaker.

With the Olympic champion from Tokyo long hesitant to leave Oregon last summer, frustrated with the Blazers’ results, and he was touched by the departure of CJ McCollum, it makes sense to take the temperature and d hope he’s unhappy with the direction the franchise is taking.

Marc Stein thus teaches us that several teams have contacted the Blazers to try to initiate discussions around Damian Lillard, a few hours before the end of the transfer period (this Thursday evening, at 9 p.m. French time). But the leaders were firm and therefore quickly closed the door to any negotiations.

As announced during the transfer with the Pelicans, the Blazers want to start from scratch with Damian Lillard and for that, they now have a large envelope (around 60 million dollars) to spend next summer, in order to support their superstar of 31 years old, currently in the infirmary and who is under contract until 2025.
