Blake Griffin officially announces his retirement

We started to see her coming and Blake Griffin made the news official on his social networks : the former Clippers power forward decides to retire at the age of 35, after spending a year away from the NBA courts.

His last stint in the league dates back to last year, with the Celtics, who tried to get him back into the game in recent months, without success. The former Clippers and Pistons star preferred to enjoy life, rather than settle for a role at the end of the bench of a title contender…

It must be said that, since his superb successful 2018/19 season in Detroit (24.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.4 assists on average), Blake Griffin is only the shadow of the interior All-Star (six times) and All-NBA (five times) he has been over the last decade. Due to physical problems, and the weight of time too, the 2011 Rookie of the Year has gradually lost his individual splendor, making it particularly difficult to see in Brooklyn.

Number one in the 2009 Draft, the former resident of the University of Oklahoma will in any case have left his mark on the league, with his posters and spectacular actions, under the colors of the Clippers. A franchise that he helped put on the map between 2010 and 2018, along with Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan, and where he could soon have his jersey retired. In any case, this is the wish of Doc Rivers, his former coach.
