Baptisms, weddings, bar mitzvahs… Young retiree from the courts, Blake Griffin may have discovered a new path for his reconversion: master of ceremonies. This weekend, he was in charge of the speeches and the various ceremonies for the wedding of his former teammate Payton Pritchardwith Emma McDonald.
Inside the Wychmere Beach Club on Cape Cod, there were a number of Celtics in attendance, including Jaylen Brown, Oshae Brissett, Lamar Stevens, Neemias Queta, Sam Hauser, Jaden Springer, and Svi Mykhailiuk, as well as Joe Mazzulla and owner Wyc Grousbeck.
A close friend of the couple
In a video shared by Jaylen Brown (see below), Griffin is seen delivering his speech and making a joke about his impersonation skills: “At no time tonight am I allowed to do my Payton impression. So don't come up to me when Payton's not here and ask me to do it.”
According to the bride, Griffin was Pritchard's confidant early on in their relationship, and the former Clippers dunker became a close friend of the couple. “We chose him because we knew he would keep the ceremony fun and light, and he did a fantastic job!” wrote Emma McDonald on Instagram Wednesday. “The crowd absolutely loved it, and so did we. It was incredibly unique to be married by one of our friends!”
