Blake Griffin is hesitant to continue his career

As the Celtics attempt to bring in Jrue Holiday, president Brad Stevens addressed the case Blake Griffin. The former All-Star is coming off a very complicated season, spent at the end of the bench, and it is not certain that we will see him on the field again…

Brad Stevens revealed that he had asked Blake Griffin to come back, but that the latter is simply considering retiring.

“I’m not talking nonsense: he was incredible here when he played and even better when he wasn’t playing” says the former Boston coach. “Any person in our franchise is a fan of his for life. You know, if he decides to continue playing, if he wants to come back to the East, he knows that one phone call is enough. »

A year ago, he refused then accepted

If he decides to come back, Blake Griffin does not have much to hope for in terms of playing time since the racket is still armored with Al Horford and Robert Williams, and now Kristaps Porzingis. But Brad Stevens remembers their discussion from last year.

“I told him, ‘We’d love for you to join us, but you might not be able to play when Robert [Williams] will come back [de blessure]’ »says Brad Stevens. “He refused. So I waited a few more days, called him back and said, ‘I don’t want to bother you, I know you have kids. I know you already said no, but I just wanted to take stock before turning to other players, because you are the one who suits our team best.’ He replied: ‘I’ve thought about it and I want to do it.’

Maybe Brad Stevens will pick up the phone and call him again…
