Like Thomas Heurtel last year or Amath M’Baye recently, Jonas Jerebko made the choice to join a Russian team during the conflict against Ukraine, and he is paying the consequences in terms of the national team. It was March 2022, a month after the start of the Russian invasion, and the former Pistons and Jazz winger had been suspended by his federation in the process. One of his sponsors had also dropped him. Arrived there to finish the season, the Swede had only stayed there for a few weeks, and since then he has never seen the grounds again, whether in club or selection. At 36, he plans to continue playing.

What Jerebko does not understand is why he remains “blacklisted” when his experience was short, and he left on his own in June. “It’s sad but I understand their decision. But it’s hard to have had no contact for a year and a half, and to get no response. I contacted them in November. I have contacted them through social media, but have not yet received any response”.
