Bismack Biyombo devotes his entire salary to building a hospital in the Democratic Republic of Congo

The very generous Bismack Biyombo prepares a new very big blow. In a video posted on the Youtube channel of the “Bismack Biyombo Foundation”, the pivot of the Suns announced that he would devote all of his salary received this season, or 1,366,392 dollars, to launch the construction of a hospital in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The player explained that he hesitated for a long time to resume basketball after the illness and death of his father. “He was my friend, my partner in business, my mentor, he was everything”, he confided. Due to his status, Biyombo had managed to charter a medical plane to take his father to Turkey.

“Every day when I came home from the hospital, I always wondered how these people were doing when they couldn’t take their family members elsewhere. I feel extremely privileged to have been in a position to place him on a medical plane to evacuate him to Europe so that he has better medical care”he added. “My salary this year will therefore be used directly for the construction of a hospital in the country, in order to give hope to those who no longer have it, those people who cannot transfer their family members elsewhere. I wanted to be able to give them better conditions so that they could have this hope of seeing theirs live and see the next day”.

In honor of the memory of his father

The player also confirmed that he lost some of his love for the game following the death of his father, before conceiving the idea of paying tribute to him through a return to the game in a title candidate.

“I remember calling my agent one day and telling him that the only way for me to come back this year was to find a situation where I could fit in and play for something. I wanted this year to be dedicated to my father, he who gave so much to me, my brothers, my sisters, to serve others,” he confided. “I wanted to build something that would continue to serve people, in his name.”

The hospital will thus bear the name of his father, with a simple first objective: “Make sure that we can save as many lives as possible. I saw how people were trying to survive in Congo. We have already done a lot by renovating hospitals and clinics. But I believe the time has come to think a little bigger and build something that will help people, hopefully for generations.”

In conclusion, Bismack Biyombo appealed to all people likely to help him in his approach.

“To all the doctors and hospitals in the country, please help me, if you can. If you know anyone who can help us accomplish this idea, get in touch and we’ll be more than happy to think about how we can work together.”
