Becky Hammon will meet the Raptors

The Rockets were the first to draw in this offseason by winning the services of the very courted Ime Udoka. Toronto could follow after laying off Nick Nurse after a disappointing season that ended in the first round of the play-in.

Apart from their assistant Adrian Griffin, who should be part of the technicians interviewed to replace Nick Nurse, the Raptors had been rather discreet in their research. Adrian Wojnarowski has somewhat enlightened the general public on the state of progress of the Canadian franchise, evoking almost a dozen names among the potential candidates!

Hammon, WNBA Coach of the Year

We would thus find many assistants recognized in the league like the former head coach Kenny Atkinson, approached last year in Charlotte before changing his mind to stay on the staff of Golden State. Other interviewees include Charles Lee (Milwaukee), Kevin Young (Phoenix), Mitch Johnson (San Antonio), Jordi Fernandez (Sacramento), Darko Rajakovic (Memphis), and Chris Quinn (Miami). Essentially assistants would be targeted.

Note that The Raptors also obtained permission to speak with Becky Hammon, reigning WNBA champion coach with the Las Vegas Aces. Elected coach of the year in the WNBA, she could once again test the market in the NBA and thus claim to become the first female “head coach” in the NBA.
