Ayo Dosunmu frustrated at losing starting spot

He has been the big winner of Lonzo Ball’s woes since January 2022. As we know, the playmaker has never managed to put his left knee worries behind him and Ayo Dosunmu was therefore propelled to Chicago. The rookie had had a good first season and he continued this momentum at the start of the 2022/23 financial year.

Except that the Bulls brought in Patrick Beverley and since the resumption, after the All-Star Game, Ayo Dosunmu has lost his place in the five major. His impact also dropped, going from an average of 9.6 points and 7.6 shots attempted in 28 minutes until mid-February, to 5.9 points and 5 shots per game in 19 minutes since.

He who is delighted with the arrival of Patrick Beverley, seeing him as a model to follow, is logically frustrated by this downgrading.

“It’s the reality: each player is a competitor and wants to start the matches”, he declares thus in the columns of the Chicago Sun-Times. “But at this stage of the season, it’s about trying to win as much as possible. We don’t have time to worry about the rest because in a few days, we will be in play-in. We will play our season on one match. I think above all about winning, helping my team. »

At the end of the rookie contract, will Ayo Dosunmu be kept this summer by the Bulls, who will also have to make a choice with another playmaker, Coby White? And if so, will he be able to regain his place as a starter?

“I have a lot of work to do in the offseason if I want to achieve my goals. We look back at certain matches and we say to ourselves that if we had known certain things earlier, it would have been different. It will clearly be my priority this summer, but for now I’m focused on the last matches of the regular season. »
