The series against the Nuggets certainly represented a tragic end for the Lakers, swept unceremoniously at the gates of the NBA Finals. On the other hand, it confirmed all the talent ofAustin Reaves, author of four pretty amazing games, with more than 21 points and 5 assists per game, all with amazing marksmanship percentages, 55% success rate, 56% at 3-point range! We have known worse to complete an impressive sophomore season on his part, during which his rise to power will have been linear.
Suffice to say that the rear of the Lakers ended the season washed out, and the fierce competition gave way to a well-deserved rest. The goal this time is to clear your head to better prepare for the “free agency”, the World Cup with Team USA, before finally returning to battle next season. At the Lakers, or elsewhere…
“All I’ve done for the past three weeks is play golf every day,” did he declare. “I’m just trying to decompress a bit and have fun. It’s been a long, very long year for us. With the pre-season games we played, I think we played 105 games in total. So I tried to get away from the game a bit and have fun at the same time, because the season can be quite trying”.
A family job
The “fun” did not last long since Austin Reaves confided that he was already back in the gym and that he will quickly take control of the ball to start his third season of his career. At his side, he can also count on his big brother Spencer Reaves, a professional player in Europe who finished the season in Bamberg (Germany), as a luxury sparring partner. The two are pulling each other up to keep advancing in their respective careers in the offseason.
“It was a good year for us, although it didn’t end the way we would have liked. But you know, you have to keep working and improving. Basically, it will be the same as every other summer for me. I’m taking some time off right now, but recently started lifting cast iron again and I know I’ll be heading back to the gym soon. My goal is to progress every day. Spencer and I want to find things that we didn’t do well last year on the pitch and make them our strengths. We want to improve in all areas of our respective games.”
Back to basics in Arkansas
To link business with pleasure, the Reaves brothers will also take advantage of the next few days to pass on some of their knowledge to the youngest with three camps planned in the state of Arkansas where they grew up. The first gathering organized for students from CE2 to Terminale will take place at the Cabot Freshman Academy, the second at the “Valley View Multipurpose Building” in Jonesboro and then at Lyon College in Batesville. This will be an opportunity for Austin Reaves to test his popularity rating, he who is also in the news thanks to the upcoming release of his first signature shoe, the AR1, in collaboration with equipment manufacturer Rigorer.
“I remember growing up and going with Spencer to a Lyon College camp almost every year. The fun we had there and the things we learned were great. Now, we want to give these children the opportunity to rub shoulders with players. We have a lot of players who know the game and people who can help them learn the game instead of just dribbling and shooting.”continued Austin Reaves.“Teaching the game is the main thing we want to do, and it’s great for us to be able to grow and have more places where we can reach more kids.”
