Audiences: Game 1 between the Warriors and the Lakers explodes all records

Between the posters and the many twists and turns that punctuated the start of the playoffs, the general public was spoiled for the first round and the start of the conference semi-finals, culminating in the clash between Stephen Curry’s Warriors and LeBron James’ Lakers. Good news for the NBA and the televisions, the hearings follow!

The TNT channel thus reported a historic audience record for Game 1 of this confrontation by recording an average of 7.4 million viewers, unheard of at this stage of the competition! A peak audience of up to 8 million viewers at the end of the match was even recorded. It thus became the most-watched game in the conference semifinals since Game 5 between the Lakers and the Thunder on May 21, 2012.

Before the night’s meeting between Boston and Philly, the channel, which had broadcast five semi-final matches, posted its best figures since 2018, with an 18% increase in audiences compared to 2022. The trend should continue and should only increase the longer the series will drag on.
