At the Rockets, Ime Udoka finds a first assistant

Like most coaches who land in a franchise, Ime Udoka will not keep the assistants in place, and he will compose his own staff. ESPN announces that the new Rockets coach has just recovered Royal Ivey. The two met on the Nets bench, and for Ivey, it’s almost a homecoming since he played for four years at the University of Texas. He had also been approached by this college two years ago.

Close to the players, Royal Ivey embarked on a career as an assistant coach in 2014. After stints on the benches of the G-League, with the Oklahoma City Blue, before arriving on that of the Thunder, we saw the Knicks from 2018 to 2020, then the Nets for three years.

Sports Illustrated reports that Udoka plans to find other assistants in his former staff at the Celtics. But he will have to wait until the end of the Boston season to proceed.
