It’s quite logical: the two best teams in the league at the All-Star Break are also the favorites of the Las Vegas bookmakers for the title, as indicated by Caesars Sportsbook.
The Suns’ odds are thus 5.5, or an estimated probability of 18.2% that Phoenix will win the Larry O’Brien Trophy. The Warriors are close behind with odds of 5.75, and an estimated probability of 17.4%. But bookmakers note that there are far more bets on Stephen Curry’s tape than on Chris Paul’s.
“The Suns have the best record, but the Warriors are close in reliability, and they have more public confidence than the Suns”, explains Adam PullenDeputy Head of Trading for Caesars Sportsbook.
This season looks hard to predict anyway, with the Nets remaining on the betting podium with odds of 6.5 (15.4%) ahead of the Bucks (7, 14.3%) and Sixers (8, 12.5%).
“This season seems more open”confirms Adam Pullen. “Usually in the NBA when you enter the playoffs, you can count on one hand the number of teams that have a legitimate chance of winning the title. I don’t think that will be the case this season.”
