At least one more week of absence for Joel Embiid

Joel Embiid will it be restored in time for “Christmas Day”? The question arises, since ESPN tells us that he will not play again for a week, because of his facial fracture, and more precisely his frontal sinus.

In the best case, the pivot of Sixers could therefore return next Monday for the Spurs reception. Unless he's gone until Wednesday, Christmas Day, and only comes back for the trip to Boston.

As a reminder, Joel Embiid was injured on Friday, on an involuntary cuff from Bennedict Mathurin after a fight for the rebound. This is not the first time that he has been hit in the face, as this had already been the case in 2018 (fracture of the orbital plateau of the left eye) then in 2022 (fracture of the orbital plateau of the right eye) . To this must be added his partial facial paralysis, Bell's facial paralysis, developed this year.

Limited to only six games because of his knee, the 2023 MVP posted 20.3 points (41% overall success including 16% at 3-points), 7.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.0 blocks on average over the season.
