Kevin Young did not go far from living his first experience as a head coach in the NBA. Candidate for the succession of Monty Williams in Phoenix, he finally saw Frank Vogel take the job from him, and his three other tracks (Milwaukee, Houston and Toronto) did not follow up.
The setback must have been difficult to digest, but Kevin Young will finally return to the staff of the Suns where he will again occupy the position of first assistant to Frank Vogel, as confirmed yesterday by Adrian Wojnarowski.
To console him, his new commitment with Phoenix is accompanied by a nice salary increase which will make him the highest paid assistant in the league.
Kevin Young will indeed receive more than two million dollars a year. It was also the will of the Arizona franchise to keep him, and thus prevent Monty Williams from bringing him back to Detroit.
Suns associate HC Kevin Young will stay on new coach Frank Vogel’s staff for a deal that’ll make him the league’s highest paid assistant, sources tell ESPN. Young was a finalist for job that Vogel landed with Phoenix.
