As with Ben Simmons, will the Sixers block James Harden’s salary?

In the NBA, most players receive their salaries via fortnightly payments, from October to April. During the offseason, these payments may be a little more spaced out but, overall, Grand League basketball players receive more than twenty checks/transfers throughout the year.

But some contracts are structured differently, and this was particularly the case for that of Ben Simmonswho received 25% of his salary on July 1 and another 25% before the opening of the “training camp”.

At the heart of their divorce, the Sixers had also withheld this second payment, Ben Simmons’ refusal to go to “training camp” being seen as a “non-compliance with the terms of his contract”.

Repeated this year? Brian Windhorst and Tim Bontemps explain as well as James Harden has a contract structured exactly the same way as Ben Simmons’. He therefore received 8.9 million dollars (25% of his total salary of 35.6 million) on July 1 and he must still receive 8.9 million dollars this Sunday.

The collective agreement allows Philadelphia to wait until Monday to make this second transfer, while the Sixers’ training camp at Colorado State begins Tuesday…

The question is whether Daryl Morey and Philadelphia leaders will block this $8.9 million if James Harden chooses to boycott his team’s training camp. While we recall that he had promised that he would not “never part of a franchise he (Daryl Morey) is in”.
