While he feared not being able to walk again after the Tokyo Olympics, following a nasty fall, Aron Baynes has been back in the Australian championship for two seasons.
At 36, he now seems far from the NBA but he continues to weigh in on the NBL rackets. Except that this weekend, it sparked a controversy, and above all an investigation. The interior of the Brisbane Bullets is indeed accused of fighting with Cairns Taipans coach Adam Fordethe opposing team.
The altercation allegedly took place in the locker room, at half-time of the match between the two teams.
A rebound fight that degenerates
In a rebound fight during which he was particularly physical, Aron Baynes ended up taking Lat Mayen’s elbow, the opposing winger, at throat level. Enough to drive the former Celtics and Suns player crazy, who had to be kept away from the referees by his teammates…
Problem: half-time came immediately, and Aron Baynes did not have time to come down. He waited for Lat Mayen, the two men returning to the locker room shoulder to shoulder.
It is in this context that the altercation with Adam Forde would have taken place immediately, the Brisbane Bullets regret the anger of Aron Baynes, while criticizing the attitude of the opposing coach.
“Adam Forde’s behavior at half-time of the match was unprofessional and unbecoming of an NBL coach”explained Stu Lash, senior advisor to the team, at ESPN. “The fact that he was waiting outside our locker room with the direct intention of confronting Aron deserves, in my opinion, a several match suspension. There is a pattern of behavior on the part of Coach Forde that must be addressed accordingly. »
The incident having been filmed, the NBL is currently studying the videos to take appropriate sanctions.
