Anthony Parker named GM in Orlando

The Magic reorganizes its organization chart a little following the change of position of John Hammond, the GM. At 68, he has obviously decided to slow down shifting to a quieter role to advise.

After 32 years on the benches and in the offices of various franchises (Wolves, Clippers, Pistons, Bucks, Magic…), the man who drafted Giannis Antetokounmpo in 2013 thus leaves his place to Anthony Parkerwho had been his assistant GM for two years, having scouted for the club from his retirement as a player in 2012 to 2017, before becoming the GM of the Lakeland Magic, the team affiliated with the Florida franchise in the G-League, from 2017 to 2021.

For Candace’s brother, who had shone in Europe (three-time Euroleague winner, two-time Euroleague MVP) under the colors of Maccabi Tel Aviv before ending his career in the NBA, notably with the Raptors and then the Cavaliers, the continued rise in Orlando’s organizational chart.

Pete D’Alessandro, for his associate GM side, is promoted to vice-president of basketball operations, becoming the right arm of Jeff Weltman, the club’s sports boss since 2017.
